Sharrif Floyd moves pro day to March 22 due to tweaked ankle

During the 2012 season, Gator Nation understood how important Sharrif Floyd was to Florida’s return to college football’s elite. During the recent NFL Combine, scouts and coaches began to understand how important Floyd may be to their dreams of taking home a Lombardi Trophy.

Since the Combine, Floyd’s stock has been on a meteoric rise, even climbing to No. 1 on Mel Kiper’s Big Board. During his efforts, however, he tweaked his ankle and has been working to get back to 100-percent.

Thus, according to NBC Sports, Floyd has set up a personal pro day in Gainesville, FL, 10 days after the rest of his former teammates perform in front of all the stopwatches and measuring tapes.

Florida’s Pro Day is set for March 12, while Floyd, simply making sure he is in tip-top shape, will perform in front of scouts on March 22.

Before the Combine, Floyd was a maybe in terms of even being selected in the first round. Afterwards, his fast 40-yard dash times of 4.93 and 4.87 seconds, respectively, shot him up draft boards.

If he amazes on March 22, being selected No. 1-overall by the Kansas City Chiefs is not outside of the realm of possibilities. No defensive lineman has been taken at the very top spot since the Texans selected Mario Williams with the No. 1 pick in 2006.
