Stanford Cardinal QB Brett Nottingham to transfer

College football coaches around the country have to be licking their chops at the news that Stanford’s backup QB, Brett Nottingham, will transfer.

Notthingham, who was a highly touted recruit out of Monte Vista High School (CA), was Andrew Luck’s backup in 2011 and was in line to take the starting position for the 2012 season.

The emergence of Josh Nunes put a halt to those plans, as Nottingham was beaten out by Nunes in preseason camp.

Nunes proved to be a worthy-replacement for No. 1 draft pick Andrew Luck, so the fact that Nottingham took a backseat to his play is not all that bad.

Nottingham will have to sit out a year due to NCAA transfer rules, but he will likely improve the QB play for whichever team he transfers to as soon as he steps on campus.

He played in two games during the 2012 season, completing 5-of-8 passes for 22 yards.

Where do you think Nottingham will end up? Sound off below!

Columbia University. Since it is an FCS program, he does not have to take off a year and still retains two years of eligibility. Academically, it’s as good as or better than Stanford. He will be playing in the New York media market (the largest in the country) and since he will be the best quarterback in the Northeast, he will get massive press coverage from Boston to Washington D.C. Also, FCS players do make it into the NFL.
