Former Tennessee Titans cheerleader charged with sexual battery of 12-year old boy
Everyone knows that pretty much any cheerleader, and especially at the NFL level, has her pick of the litter in terms of guys, and especially at drunken parties.
However, Elizabeth Leigh Garner, a 42-year old former Tennessee Titans cheerleader, picked the wrong man (Read: boy) at a drunken party near Nashville.
Garner was with the Titans until 2009, and she is married. However, at a Murfreesboro house of one of her friends, she took quite the liking to her friend’s son.
The issue? That boy is only 12 years old. This according to Black Mountain News:
During an interview with police at his school, the boy said Garner was at his home drinking, and at some point late in the evening he went to use the restroom when Garner followed him, according to police.
“He stated she was asking him if he had ever been with a woman,” Roberts reported, adding the boy disclosed she then touched him inappropriately on the outside of his pants. “He also said she was making an attempt to take his shorts off …” and told the boy she would perform oral sex on him.
The boy told Roberts he became frightened and was able to get out of the bathroom and tell his mother.
Weaving a web of lies generally put folks in far hotter legal troubles than simply admitting to the crime or mistake in the first place. Garner did not deny what the boy told police and those in charge at his school, but rather claimed it was just a horrible mistake.
“Ms. Garner, who was advised of her miranda rights, stated that she was drunk that evening,” Roberts reported, “and that she got the boy confused with a man who also at the residence.”
Whether or not her defense holds up remains to be seen. Garner was indicted last week on charges of aggravated sexual battery and solicitation of a minor. Her bond was set at $30,000 and she is scheduled to appear in court at some point this week.
She faces a maximum of eight years in prison.
