Longhorns sophomore RB Malcolm Brown out for West Virginia game

The Longhorns rushing attack took a hit Tuesday night when Chark Carlton of the Dallas Morning News tweeted that sophomore running back Malcolm Brown will miss the West Virginia game due to an injured left ankle. The “hit,” however, shouldn’t slow the ‘Horns attack down too much.

Texas has a stable of backs at their disposal, including freshman phenom Johnathan Gray, sophomore Joe Bergeron and senior Jeremy Hills.

Gray and Bergeron put the load on their shoulders following the loss of Brown in last week’s win over Oklahoma State. Gray carried the ball 12 times for 68 yards, while Bergeron rushed 15 times for 49 yards and two touchdowns. The emergence of David Ash as a formidable quarterback has allowed the running game to find a groove.

The ‘Horns will need all these backs to step up and contribute Saturday against a lethal West Virginia offense. The Mountaineers scored 70 points against the Baylor Bears last weekend in their Big 12 debut.

Texas and West Virginia will square off Saturday night at 6:00 PM CT.
