The Texas Longhorns went into Oxford and made a statement against a quality SEC opponent. Here’s a look at few statements Longhorn players made on twitter during Week 3 of the college football season.
Marquise Goodwin (@FlashGoodwin) tweeted Sept. 14: “While everyone else is at home in Texas sleeping, i’m in Washington riding around & getting it!”
A couple of days after visiting the White House as part of the U.S. Olympic team, Goodwin displayed his Olympic speed in Oxford, racking up 182 yards and two touchdowns. The Rebels’ SEC speed couldn’t keep pace with Goodwin’s Olympic speed, as he helped the Horns break the game open in the second quarter. He broke a 69-yard touchdown run on a sweep to give Texas a 17-7 lead, then caught a 47-yard David Ash heave to set up the next Longhorn score and extend the lead to 24-7.
Jackson Jeffcoat (@Yung_Jack44) tweeted Sept. 14: “Headed to Oxford, Mississippi ? ?#businesstrip ?#hookem”
Jeffcoat and the entire Longhorns squad handled Saturday’s game like a business trip as they romped pass Mississippi 66-31. The Horns offense took care of business with 676 total yards on their way to scoring the most points against Mississippi since 1917.
Reggie Wilson (@ReggieWilson92) tweeted Sept. 16: “Good morning folks, great win as a team yesterday on the road against a good SEC team and we have to keep improving. Hook em horns!”
While the Horns’ domination against an SEC opponent propelled them to 12th on the AP poll, defensive end Reggie Wilson believes there’s room for improvement. The Texas defense gave up nearly 400 yards, including 229 in the air.
“After every game you have concerns,” Texas coach Mack Brown said. “But when you win 66-31 you have to be pleased.”
