How Georgia can make it to the SEC Championship

In the words of Lloyd Christmas to Mary Swanson, “So you’re telling me there’s a chance?!”

Despite being two weeks removed from Georgia’s embarrassing loss to South Carolina on national television, the Bulldogs haven’t had a chance to put it behind them just yet as they sat through a bye this past weekend.

Instead, they were mere spectators like the rest of us as the world watched LSU upset South Carolina in Death Valley in an old-fashioned SEC slug fest.

Tigers head coach Les Miles put the game in the hands of his defense, which shut down the Gamecocks when they had to, winning 23-21.

This loss gives Georgia new life, although the team still needs some help.

Even if the Bulldogs win out, South Carolina holds the tie-breaker. The Gamecocks still need to lose one more SEC game, with its toughest remaining conference opponent on deck this weekend at Florida.

In order to win out, Georgia has to take care of business with Kentucky and Ole Miss still on the schedule, and most importantly, beat Florida in Jacksonville on Oct. 27.

A loss to Florida would ultimately remove Georgia from the SEC championship discussion, and a season with high hopes would be spoiled once again by the Bulldogs’ inability to win the big games.

Also worth noting is that Georgia would hold the tiebreaker over Florida if they beat the Gators and both team’s have only one loss
