Former Aggies’ head coach Gary Andersen recently accepted the head coaching position at Wisconsin, thus leaving a vacant spot at the helm of Utah State.
On Thursday, the university announced that Andersen’s offensive coordinator, Matt Wells, would take over the head coaching position.
The 38-year old is a 1996 graduate of Utah State, and has spent time coaching at New Mexico, Louisville, Tulsa and Navy, before returning to his alma mater.
In 2012, under Wells’ direction, the Aggies offense finished 25th nationally in rushing, 38th in passing, and 33rd overall in points scored.
