Wisconsin Badgers coaching search: Miami’s Al Golden turns down offer
The unexpected Wisconsin Badgers coaching search wages on. According to Sports Illustrated’s Pete Thamel, Miami coach Al Golden emerged as one of athletic director Barry Alvarez’s favorites to fill the vacated spot left by former coach Bret Bielema.
Golden didn’t take long to let Alvarez know that his heart lies in Miami and that he would not be leaving sunny South Beach for the cold of Mad-town.
Just got word that Al Golden is flattered by Alvarez’s interest but staying at Miami.

The University of Miami is facing potential NCAA sanctions, however; Golden’s choice to stay shows a lot about the direction he believes the program is heading in.
For Wisconsin’s Alvarez, it is back to the drawing board to try to fill one of the nation’s top coaching spots.
