Pittsburgh Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen showed why he is an All-Star on Saturday night.
With the Pirates trailing the Reds in the top of the ninth, he delivered an absolute bomb to center to tie up the game. The Reds couldn’t plate a run in the bottom of the ninth so the game went to extra innings.
No one scored in the first extra frame but in the top of the 11th, McCutchen came to bat again. This time, he wasted no time and put the first pitch in the left field bleachers.
The Pirates held off the Reds in the bottom of the 11th and pulled to a game back of their division rival Reds. Every game counts in their division too because there are four teams are within 2.5 games of each other for first place in the National League Central.
