The “Inside the NBA” crew took a few moments on Sunday to discuss the Eastern Conference Finals, at which time Charles Barkley decided to give Lance Stephenson some blunt advice. Barkley channeled his inner Tom Jackson, and then told Stephenson to essentially shut the hell up and stop poking the bear, er LeBron James.
The Stephenson comments that Barkley was referring to are from after Game 3. The Pacers did not win the game, but Stephenson found a small victory in getting LeBron to talk trash. Per Ethan Sklonick with Bleacher Report:
“To me, it’s a sign of weakness,” Stephenson said. “Because he never used to say nothing to me. I always used to be the one that would say, ‘I’m gonna get under you. I’m gonna do something to get you mad.’ And now he’s trying to do it to me. So I feel like it’s a weakness. I feel like I’m doing something right, and I’m getting under his skin. But I definitely got to keep stepping up to the plate, and be more aggressive when he [does] that.”
In Game 3 LeBron went for 26 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals, so there’s that. Maybe Sir Lancelot should listen to Sir Charles, else he might end up like this before week’s end.
