With the offseason comes bonehead mistakes by football players. The latest for the Jayhawks, and new head coach Charlie Weis, is the arrest of starting junior running back James Smith.
According to the Lawrence Journal-World, Smith was arrested on KU’s campus early Sunday morning. He was charged with a DUI, and is still awaiting disciplinary action from the athletic director.
Upon taking the Kansas head coaching job, Weis dismissed 10 players form the team, which does not bode well for Sims.
The Jayhawks backfield is extremely thin and a dismissal of Sims from the team could prove to be devastating to next year’s offense.
Jayhawk fans will have to wait and see what the ramifications of Sims’ latest decisions will be.
