Former South Carolina Gamecocks running back Kenny Miles was shot on Monday afternoon. Sheriff Leon Lott with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department first informed the news of the shooting to The State.
The shooting occurred at an office park near Broad River Road in Richland County. Lott reports that Miles was shot during an alleged robbery attempt.
Sgt. Curtis Wilson with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said the shooting occurred at about 1 p.m. near the intersection of Kinley Road and Centrum Drive. Wilson said Miles was shot in the upper body.
Miles enjoyed a four-year career alternating between starter and backup, depending on Marcus Lattimore’s health. He collected 1,341 rushing yards, 416 receiving yards and five total touchdowns between 2009 and 2012. Upon graduation, Miles earned a degree in criminal justice.
