Former Missouri Tigers linebacker and SEC Defensive Player of the Year Michael Sam is in New York for the 2014 NFL Draft. On Wednesday morning, a day before one of the biggest events of his life, Sam stopped by “Good Morning America” for an interview with Robin Roberts. He discussed the upcoming draft, what it is like being the first openly gay football player, and what it means to receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, which Roberts was presented with in 2013. Sam will receive the award at this year’s ESPYS.
Following is Sam’s interview with Roberts.
