“It’s not delivery, it’s DiGiorno.”
Unfortunately, no one had reminded Nate Burleson of that in late September. He got into a car accident trying to save a pizza he had ordered from falling off the passenger’s seat and onto the floor. The Detroit Lions wide receiver broke his arm and has been forced to sit out several weeks of the 2013 season.
The frozen pizza company has set out to make sure Burleson doesn’t have to deal with any injury-riddled, late-night pizza runs again. Not this year at least.
DiGiorno has hooked Mr. Burleson up with a year’s supply of pizzas in the form of coupons, along with a note which reads:
We hope you are feeling better after your recent car accident and are on the road to recovery! DiGiorno Pizza understands the challenges that come with carryout and delivery so we’re sending you a gift along with a year supply of DiGiorno pizza so you can skip carryout.”
Pure marketing gold, courtesy of CBS Detroit.
Burleson posted a photo of the letter and coupons to his Instagram account, along with an accompanying tweet.
