Johnny Baseball: San Diego Padres Select Johnny Manziel In MLB Draft

On a day where Maria Sharapova won the French Open and California Chrome is chasing the Triple Crown, Johnny Manziel has stolen all the headlines. First a photo of him popping bottles on a blowup swan surfaced (leading to some excellent memes), and then the San Diego Padres selected Johnny Baseball in the MLB Draft’s 28th round.

Manziel was a multi-sport star in high school, but played only football while at Texas A&M. The Padres drafted him as a late-round shortstop prospect.

It looks like Johnny Cleveland and the Indians just weren’t meant to be this time around.
