Jack Hoffman is eight years old, a Nebraska Cornhuskers superfan and a brain cancer survivor. In 2013 he won the “Best Moment” ESPY for scoring a 69-yard touchdown during the Huskers’ spring game.
In early August, Hoffman’s family learned that the young man’s tumor had come out of remission, and that he would need further treatment.
“Today, we were humbly reminded that when your child has an inoperable brain tumor, that anything can happen at any point in time,” Andy Hoffman wrote. “Despite Jack’s tumor being declared in remission last October, today we learned that is no longer the case.”
On Thursday Hoffman will undergo the next phase of his treatment up in Boston. To show their support for a member of the Big Red Nation, Bo Pelini and his Nebraska team posted the following touching video message to Hoffman, his family and all of Team Jack.

Here’s hoping Hoffman makes a full recovery and is back out for another TD at spring game 2015.
