Auburn Claims 1993 National Championship, Coach Backs It Up On Twitter

You may or may not have heard, but the Auburn Tigers have hopped in a DeLorean and started claiming national championships – one of which is the 1993 title. Sure the Tigers were on probation, but who cares. It wasn’t Terry Bowden’s fault. And besides, the NCAA doesn’t really matter anymore.

While Auburn saw no conflicts of interest, the Twitterverse was up in arms. After all, if we’re going to retroactively give awards it should start with painting over Barry Bonds’ home run record*. Here’s a couple of spirited tweets lobbed towards the plains.

Former Auburn player and current Tigers offensive coordinator Dameyune Craig (also a former FSU coach) didn’t take to kindly to being called pathetic by the Seminoles. He fired back on Twitter with the following fun exchange.

So what did we learn from all of this? Auburn can rewrite history. FSU likes to call people pathetic even though, well, it’s FSU. You can’t argue with willed ignorance. And, most of all, the NCAA just doesn’t matter any more.
