To the victor go the spoils. Which, for this Auburn fan, means trolling Alabama and Nick Saban at SEC Media Days.
Birmingham resident Jeff Moorer showed up in brave style on Thursday to welcome Saban to the building. Despite his trash talking outfit referencing the miraculous play to end the 2013 Iron Bowl, Moorer had nothing but nice things to say about Saban, even hoping to snap a picture with him.
“He is one of the best coaches in the SEC and one of the all-time great coaches and I like Nick Saban,” Moorer told For The Win. “I think he’s a nice guy and hey, he’s definitely a Hall of Fame coach. I think it would be an honor to have my picture taken with Mr. Saban.”
Lest you think he was beginning to catch a Crimson fever, Moorer was in attendance to channel his inner Ric Flair and remind the world who the SEC champs currently are.
“I wanted everyone to know that we are the SEC champs. And they say to be the man you gotta beat the man. Well we beat the man. We beat the legend. We beat the myth. And not only that, Georgia is here today, too, and Auburn and Georgia is the oldest rivalry in the SEC. So it’s a two-for-one today.”
He also pulled a page from Bret “The Hitman” Hart to predict Auburn’s upcoming season.
“And we are gonna repeat as champions. Gus Malzahn is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be.”
We are now patiently awaiting a photo of Saban with Moorer in this shirt.
