Special needs Cincinnati Reds ball boy featured on Topps baseball card

Ted Kremer became a national sensation when the Cincinnati Reds fan, who also has Down syndrome, won a chance to be bat boy during a Reds game. Now, according to Cincinnati.com, Kremer will be on a Topps baseball card.

Becket Baseball editor Chris Olds explains the decision by Topps.

“Topps has made 50 cards with different players/subjects on them and they are produced in smaller quantities and are tougher to find. In this set, past All-Stars replaced current All-Stars for the same team while others, such as Teddy, are on cards because of memorable moments. (Yasiel Puig’s home run and slide into home plate has not one but two of those types of chase cards.)”

The cards will display the fan’s name, Teddy Kramer, on the front side, as well as a picture of him in his Reds uniform. On the backside of each card, there will be a paragraph telling Teddy’s story.

Kudos to Topps and the Cincinnati Reds for this heartwarming fan story.
