During Saturday’s enormous matchup against the Florida State Seminoles, Clemson fans will attempt set a new record for the loudest stadium. Tigers officials have called upon the sold-out crowd to cheer as loudly as possible during the Tigers’ first defensive snap.
If this story sounds familiar, it is. Clemson will attempt to break the record for crowd noise less than one week after the Kansas City Chiefs notched 137.5 decibels in Arrowhead Stadium. A month prior to the Chiefs’ effort, the Seattle Seahawks set the record at 131.9 decibels.
It’s one thing to be loud for one play, it’s another to stay loud for an entire game. The Guinness Book of World Records is nice, but until a team registers on the Richter Scale like LSU in 1988, everyone is a paper champion.
