Sometimes, we all need to step back and realize that football is just a game. Over the weekend, David Carrender, 49, was arrested after he allegedly shot and killed his 19-year-old son, Wyatt Carrender.
According to the Indianapolis Star, the two were in an argument over whether to stay at a bar and watch more football. They argued over Son Wyatt wanted to leave, whereas his father desired to remain at the bar. The argument continued all the way to their Morgan County, Indiana home.
As the Star described it:
Morgan County Sheriff Robert Downey said the Carrenders had been out watching football games at a restaurant or bar when they started fighting over whether to return home. The son wanted to go home. The father did not.
The argument continued after the pair returned home, Downey said. “It appears the father retrieved a handgun and shot his son, it appears, six times.”
[Sheriff Robert] Downey said David Carrender is thought to have been drinking.
The girlfriends of both the father and the son were in the house when Wyatt was shot and killed. Police had reportedly responded to several domestic disputes prior to the fatal evening. David Carrender’s girlfriend told police that it wasn’t uncommon for him to become drunk and disorderly on the weekends.
