Greek NYC Neighborhood Celebrates Greece World Cup Win

, , , ,

Forget the lack of scoring through the first three games – just two goals, all in the last contest. Forget the controversial call late in the match against Ivory Coast. Greece has advanced out of the World Cup’s first round for the first time in the country’s history, and that’s something to celebrate.

Astoria, Queens, a Greek neighborhood in New York City with a population of 154,000, celebrated the monumental win on Tuesday by flooding the streets. Fans took a page out of Auburn’s book, rolling whatever they could find. Following is a picture of the party on the pavement, courtesy of Reddit user valicat.
