The Penn State Nittany Lions are hosting Illinois in a Big Ten showdown on Saturday. Instead of the crowd’s traditional “White Out,” which they pull off so well, PSU fans are being asked to “Gold Out” Beaver Stadium for the game.
In an effort raise money for pediatric cancer awareness, the school has partnered with student-run organization THON. Both school and charity will collect donations throughout the game.
The “Gold Out” itself was first announced on THON’s Facebook page, along with some details for the charity:
New for this year is the Ribbon Zone! Next to the S-Zone, we will be handing out t-shirts to form a gold ribbon and show our support for Pediatric cancer awareness and action!
We invite everyone in the stadium to wear gold to also show support! We understand that many people do not own gold shirts, but by wearing a simple gold ribbon or bracelet you can also show how much you care!
Captains will be canning around and inside the stadium to help raise money benefitting THON as well. It’s a great chance to donate FTK!
Kickoff is at 12pm, but join us starting at 9am in the Bryce Jordan Center for TailGreat! The show will start at 10am including performances by the Blue Band, Lionettes, and our very own Morale Captains doing the line dance!
There will also be games and activities on the concourse level including spirit hair and a Penn State themed photo booth. Supply Logistics will be selling raffle tickets and Donor and Alumni Relations will also have a table with a chance to win prizes!
Hopefully a stadium awash in gold will result in lots of green donations for a good cause.
