SMU Mustangs Heartbroken Over 2014 NCAA Tournament Snub

With a gym packed full of fans and the team sitting court side for the unveiling of the 2014 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament field, the SMU Mustangs were snubbed by the selection committee. The reactions across the players’ faces sums up what Sunday afternoon was like in University Park.

It will be another March Madness-less year for Southern Methodist.

Head coach Larry Brown addressed the team and crowd after learning of the news. The following according to Bill Nichols of SportsDayDFW:

“We appreciate you all coming out here and supporting our team. I feel like I let you down.”

The crowd interrupted with a chorus of “No,” then applause.

“I learned a long time ago when things don’t go exactly your way, you can either pack it in or use it as a learning experience to get better. We can use this as motivation.”
