Sorry, Ellen, but your selfie that crashed Twitter is so two weeks ago. The Kalamazoo Growlers baseball team is taking things to a whole new level. On July 24, the squad will wear jerseys comprised of nothing but selfies for a promotional event called “Salute to Selfie Night.”
Below is a description of the event, per the Growlers’ website:
The team will collect selfies through April 1. Once the submission period ends, the Growlers will build a unique mosaic-style jersey assembled entirely from the selfies entered in the promotion. The fan that exhibits the most “Growlers spirit” will receive a featured and prominent location on all jerseys. The jerseys will be worn during the game on Thursday, July 24 when the Growlers take on the Wisconsin Woodchucks. A jersey silent auction will be held for the jerseys during the game. Contestants can bid on jerseys and winners will be able to receive their jersey from players on the field after the game.
Between this contest, Ninja Turtles night, Ghostbusters evening, and the Leigh Valley IronPigs new branding, minor league baseball is dominating on the alternate jersey front. For a sneak peak at some of the fan photos, or to submit your own, check out the Growlers’ Twitter feed.
