The Texas Longhorns head over to the Cotton Bowl on Saturday to take on hated rival Oklahoma in yet another edition of the annual Red River Rivalry. It will be the 108th meeting between these two Big 12 powerhouses, and both programs will be “going for the gold.” The winner of the game each year gets to bring a golden, 10-gallon hat back with them to campus. The team holds that hat and bragging rights for the year.
In order to commemorate the golden touch, Texas has teamed up with Nike to produce a limited edition set of alternate uniforms. The Nike Pro Combat Red River Rivalry uniforms feature gold accents all over. The numerals feature gold “kiss-cut” bordering below three patches: One commemorative, gold Rivalry patch is featured in front of the right collarbone, there is a standard Horns logo below the point of the neckline and finally a golden Nike Swoosh on the left.
The gloves look great, as the same white logo that graces the center of the chest has been featured against a golden background. There are gold accents on the shoes, as well as limited edition merchandise for fans.
All in all, we’re loving the new look for the big game, but what do you think? Let us know in the comments section below!
