Report: Minnesota Vikings hire Mike Zimmer as new head coach

The Minnesota Vikings have hired their new head coach. Adam Schefter reports the team has selected Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer.

Zimmer had been with the Bengals since 2008. In 2013, his defense finished No. 6 in the league, allowing only 19.1 points per game. He replaces a defensive-minded coach in Leslie Frazier, who led the Vikings to a 21-32 record in a little over three seasons.

Marvin Lewis and the Bengals are now in the precarious position of having to replace their offensive and defensive coordinator. Jay Gruden was hired by the Washington Redskins last week.
