In a shocking development on Tuesday, Cuonzo Martin packed up his bags at Tennessee and decided to head west to California. ESPN’s Jeff Goodman reported the news at approximately 1:30 p.m. ET.

Martin spent three years in Knoxville, coaching the Vols to a 63-41 overall record. Many fans were calling for his head during the 2013-14 season, however, after Cuonzo led the team to the Sweet 16, the grumbling subsided.
Prior to his stint with Tennessee, Cuonzo was the head coach at Missouri State. He coached the Bears to a very similar 61-41 overall record.
For Tennessee fans, who finally saw their team blossom under Cuonzo during the 2014 NCAA Tournament, this has to be a devastating blow. Add in the fact that former coach Bruce Pearl is leading conference foe Auburn, and the mood on Rocky Top has to be pretty bitter right now.
