For the first time in 31 years an American man has won the Boston Marathon. It’s only fitting that one year removed from the tragedies of 2013 the Red, White, and Blue owned the finish line. Below is a look at American distance runner Mebrahtom “Meb” Keflezighi crossing the 2014 finish line.
Keflezighi is no schlub off the street. He owns a silver medal for marathoning at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, and came in fourth during the London Olympics. With his victory, Keflezighi broke a 12-year streak of wins by African runners, and became the newest American sports hero.
