Reche Caldwell was arrested for the third time this calendar year following a traffic stop by Tampa police on Sunday evening.
Officers witnessed Caldwell roll through a stop sign at approximately 6 p.m., and pulled the former Florida Gator and NFL wide receiver over. After running his information, police found that Caldwell was operating his vehicle on a suspended license, and placed him under arrest.
According to the police report, marijuana was also found on Caldwell while he was being detained. He told officers, “I would have eaten it had I known it was there.”
The Tampa Bay Times reports that bail was set at $2,500, and he was released early Monday morning.
In May, Caldwell was booked with third degree felony charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute after officers seized a package containing 4.8 pounds of MDMA. He was also arrested in January for heading an illegal gambling operation.
Caldwell last played in the NFL in 2007 for the Washington Redskins. His brother, Andre, currently plays wide receiver for the Denver Broncos and is entering his seventh season in the league.
