After winning the National Championship on Monday night, Shabazz Napier decided to use his time on the podium to get some things off his chest. When asked by Jim Nantz to describe his emotions, Napier quieted the crowd, took aim, and fired a shot right at the NCAA. The senior guard called his team a pack of “hungry Huskies,” and essentially stated that this year’s title was born from a 2013 postseason ban.
UConn was ineligible for the tournament in 2013 due to low APR (Academic Progress Rate) scores. Huskies basketball was the only program at the university to be penalized. The stump speech was one last kick to the NCAA’s shins by the departing champion.
