Here we are, people: the 2014 Belmont Stakes with a Triple Crown bid still in play. If California Chrome takes this year’s Belmont he will be the 12th Triple Crown winner in history, and the first since Affirmed in 1978.
Chrome has been cleared to wear nasal strips for the race, so that’s one potential hurdle out of the way. Now he must conquer Belmont’s mile and a half track (longest of the Triple Crown) and competitive field. While the post draw isn’t until Wednesday prior to the race, California Chrome will undoubtedly be favored.
Below is a preview of the potentially historic race. For complete Belmont Stakes odds, be sure to check out BetDSI.
