David Beckham is going big for his Major League Soccer franchise in South Florida. Miami Beckham United, the footballer’s ownership group, unveiled renderings of a proposed stadium in Port Miami on Monday, and they are stunning, to say the least.
Now all Beckham must do is convince Miami-Dade County that this location and business venture is beneficial to the community. If his group can achieve that, Miami will add one of the country’s most breathtaking sporting venues.
“Our objective is to create the most exciting soccer venue in America, the most exciting soccer venue in the world,” said John Alschuler, Beckham’s New York-based real-estate advisor. “It’s a chance to do something special. This is not a proposal just for a stadium, it’s a proposal to create a new urban destination.”
“Our stadium, our site, is all about the skyline, it’s all about water, and it opens up to that. I think that’s what we want people to see all around the world,” Beckham said. “I’ve been to Heat games and I just see a kind of vibrant nature that goes on down there. We want to be a part of that.”
For those interested in the hurdles Beckham is currently facing for the waterfront property, Craig Davis of the Sun Sentinel does a fantastic job of laying home out here.
