For the third time in team history (2002, 2006, 2014) Ecuador has qualified for the World Cup. Finding themselves placed in Group E alongside Honduras, Switzerland and the mercurial France, La Tri has a shot to make it into the knockout round.
The team’s strength lies in the middle of the pitch, as they have plenty of veteran leadership. As for the defense, Ecuador is prone to making mistakes. Perhaps the most glaring weakness is at keeper, where inexperience is a factor.
