Miami’s Sun Life Stadium Renovations Approved, Renderings

The Miami Dolphins received the long-awaited approval for the renovations of Sun Life Stadium on Tuesday. The Miami-Dade County Board of Commissioners voted 7-4 in favor of modernizing the stadium.

Stephen Ross, majority owner of the Dolphins, released the following statement on the big news:

The renovations will not only benefit the Dolphins, but will also look to bring major sporting events to South Florida, ultimately generating more revenue for the local community.

The $400 million in funding needed for the project will be provided personally by Ross. In return, Miami-Dade County has agreed to specific payments for certain future events Sun Life Stadium lands. For a detailed explanation on the monetary structure of the plan, check out The Phinsider.

Following is a rendering of what Sun Life Stadium will look like after construction. The most notable feature being added is a canopy over the top of the stadium. Other enhancements include new seating and scoreboards, as well as several other upgrades throughout the venue.
