SEC Network To Air In Space Per Astronaut’s Request

While the SEC Network continues to work on deals with cable providers around the country, there’s one place that won’t be without Southeastern Conference football this fall: the International Space Station.

Astronaut Billy Wilmore, who played college football for Tennessee Tech and is an SEC fan, will be aboard the station from Sept. 25 until March 2015. Not wanting to miss the season, Wilmore requested to receive the new network in space, which NASA obliged, according to The Tennessean.

“I don’t watch a lot of sports — my wife might not agree with that — but I do like to watch football, the SEC Game of the Week, and I try to catch Tech every chance I get,” Wilmore said.

In addition to SEC football, Wilmore still keeps up with his alma mater. He plans to stream the Golden Eagles’ games via the Internet.

Now all that’s left to do is for DirecTV and the SEC Network to close the deal. If space gets the network, so too should my living room.
