Uruguay won the very first World Cup in 1930, and since then has won one other (1950) and posted three 4th place finishes. It’s been feast or famine for La Celeste throughout history.
This year’s tournament will be an uphill battle for Uruguay due to an injury to striker Luis Suarez. Despite that, the team still carries the second best odds into group play. Uruguay enters at +176 in Group D, sandwiched in between Italy (+150) and England (+250).
