The United States will be making its 10th appearance in the World Cup in 2014, and seventh straight since 1990. The U.S. men’s national team’s highest finish was third place at the inaugural 1930 World Cup in Uruguay.
Entering Brazil there is a lot of uncertainty to what team the world will actually see. USA drew Group G, along with Germany, Portugal, and Ghana. The U.S. men’s national team has the longest odds in the group to advance from the first round at +1355. Germany and Portugal are expected to move on at -165 and +230, respectively.
A win over Ghana in the opening match would go a long way to setting the USA up to escape from the “Group of Death.” A loss and the U.S. men’s national team will be staring at two giants in order to advance.
