It’s official: Brian Hoyer is the Cleveland Browns’ starting quarterback. Johnny Manziel has been relegated to backup. And the entire news media industry is a burning heap of rubble. Not really … but kinda.
You just knew Twitter was going to have a field day with the Browns regardless of their QB decision, it was only a matter of waiting for the ax to fall. Here is the firefight from the Twitterverse going in on Hoyer, Manziel and the franchise.

#Browns fans, make sure you snatch up that Hoyer gear for the opener. Of course, you have to customize it because it’s not sold on the site

Half-expected the #Browns headline to be: “Browns name Johnny Manziel backup!” instead of “Browns name Hoyer starter”

Now it’s time to see if #Browns Johnny Football has what it takes to raise his index finger instead of his middle one.

Brian Hoyer starting Week One means he wins the battle, but unless he’s Peyton Manning by Week Four, no shot at winning the war. #Browns

I guess 6-of-22 through two games is good enough to be the #Browns starting QB.

As a Vikings fan I’m confused. When did it become national news to have sucky quarterbacks? Where has our coverage been? #Browns
