For just the fourth time in the illustrious history of the Fighting Irish, Notre Dame will wear names on the back of their jerseys.

Head coach Brian Kelly instituted the bowl-game tradition of sporting names on the Irish’s jerseys when he arrived in 2010.

Under Kelly, Notre Dame is 1-1 when wearing jerseys with names on them: a Sun Bowl win over Miami in 2010 and a Champs Sports Bowl loss to Florida State in 2011.
