Welcome to Part II of a six-part series in which we will touch on tips and tricks to hopefully help you evaluate the 2013 fantasy football season.
That Ex-Girlfriend You Just Keep Going Back To
We’ve all done it. Maybe it’ll be different this time? Maybe they finally changed? No. They didn’t. You shouldn’t have drafted them last year and you shouldn’t draft them this year. Unless it’s 2 AM and you haven’t drafted anyone yet. Then you should definitely text them. I mean draft them.
So ole Mike Vick has got himself a brand new offensive-juggernaut of a coach this year. He’s been named the starter, as if anyone really thought Nick Foles was going to win that battle. He’s still got the arm, the legs, and a nice supporting cast. Basically he has the same setup that he had last year when he laid a big egg. So why draft him again? Because you know he can do this on any given Sunday. Full disclosure: I’ve already drafted him once and I’ll probably do it again. But please, hedge your bets and don’t make him a QB1. If he’s there in the 10th though, why not stash him? At worst you can look for a bigger sucker than you who will trade for him when (Quarterback to be determined) goes down for the year in the first three weeks.
Romo is a yards man. Quantity over quality. If you were building a championship team, he obviously doesn’t make the cut but you aren’t building a real team. You’re building a stats team. Romo is a great plan B. He’s the quarterback you call when you breakup with your quarterback of two years. Hopefully your league’s scoring system doesn’t penalize you too much for interceptions.
Speed guys don’t last. They’re fragile and repairing them is like duct taping a race car. Chris Johnson has some duct tape on him. But, as we’ve seen in the preseason, he’s still got some burst. He’s like a supermodel in her late 30’s. She may have lost a little of that allure but you’d still draft that if you got a chance.
Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. Bush is a two-timer. You keep taking him back and he keeps letting you down. Dump him once and for all.
At this point, I can’t even remember what made me fall for Murray in the first place. He did something nice for me 3 years ago and has been riding that wave ever since.
