The SEC was not always the nation’s most dominant football conference. Just as the teams themselves have undergone countless reworkings and tweaks over the years, so have the majority of the programs’ logos.
There are a handful of programs, however, that have kept their traditional logos over the years. Georgia, South Carolina, Ole Miss and Auburn have maintained the same look for generations.
Others, such as LSU and Alabama, have undergone subtle changes, most likely in an effort to modernize their traditional looks.
Still others, such as Florida, have switched their focus from their school letters to their school mascot.
Finally, Vandy. The Commodores stunk for decades, and the school administration was probably hoping a change in symbol would bring a change in luck on the football field. When that would not work, they would just change it all up again — and again.
Also, here’s hoping Texas A&M, one of the group’s newbies, finds a bit of logo stability as the Aggies settle into the SEC.
