Tiger Tiger Woods, ya’ll. It only seems appropriate to open this post with that line after watching Woods take home the 2013 Players Championship.
While all of America watched Sergio Garcia take a trip to the waterpark, Woods was calm, cool and collected as he won his second Players Championship in his career.
Immediately after TPC was all wrapped up, naturally everyone turned their attention to the upcoming U.S. Open and Woods’ odds at taking home his first major in quite some time.
Following are the odds as of Monday, May 13 for some of the top golfers in the world (via CBS Sports):
- Tiger Woods: 7-2
- Rory McIlroy: 12-1
- Lee Westwood: 20-1
- Phil Mickelson: 25-1
- Adam Scott: 25-1
- Brandt Snedeker: 25-1
- Justin Rose: 25-1
- Luke Donald: 30-1
- Charl Schwartzel: 30-1
- Dustin Johnson: 30-1
- Matt Kuchar: 30-1
- Graeme McDowell: 30-1
- Sergio Garcia: 30-1
Prior to TPC, Woods was a 9-2 favorite, but after winning his fourth tournament of the season, those odds jumped to an overwhelming 7-2.
If you are looking to lay down a bet and want some history to reference, Woods hasn’t won four tournaments before June since way back in 2000. He followed those four tournament victories with four straight major wins.
You can only deny greatness for so long. Tiger Tiger Woods is back, y’all.
