While nearly every other team in the nation was scrambling to pick up commitments this time last year, the Texas Longhorns coaching staff was sitting pretty for the 2013 season.
Now, however, coach Mack Brown and Co. are scrambling just like everybody else, and they are doing so in a direct reaction to none other than the big, bad Nick Saban, according to sources.

A’Shawn Robinson, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, has been committed to the Horns for more than a year. However, the 6-foot-5, 305-pound four-star recruit, who plays especially well in run defense and is known for his strength, is second-guessing his decision at the 11th Hour.
With 2013 National Signing Day lurking right around the corner on Feb. 6, Robinson took an official visit to Tuscaloosa on Jan. 18 and will be taking one last look at the Austin campus on Jan. 26.
After that visit, Robinson is planning on keeping his decision a secret (provided he’s made one at that point) until Signing Day itself.
The Longhorns have improved on their record in each of the last three seasons. After finishing with nine wins and returning nearly everyone the team is primed to crack the double-digit mark once again. However, Brown does lose star defensive end Alex Okafor to the NFL Draft, so keeping Robinson on board is his biggest priority at the moment.
As for Bama, flipping the No. 105-ranked recruit in the nation would only help the national champion Tide keep on rollin’.
