Alabama recruit Tyren Jones breaks jaw in locker room altercation

Tyren Jones, a four-star running back who has been committed to Alabama since February, may have an awkward time making his official announcement on National Signing Day. The 5-foot-8, 190-pound Jones is the No. 8-rated running back and the 63rd-rated football player in the entire country.

However, he is scheduled to go under the knife on Monday after suffering a broken jaw in a locker room altercation, according to The Marietta Daily.

According to a story first reported by Score Atlanta, Jones, a four-star recruit committed to Alabama, was injured during a locker-room fight Friday at Walton. The story said witnesses told school administrators that Jones did not throw any punches during the altercation.

Over the last two seasons, Jones has been one of the state’s best running backs, rushing for 4,047 yards and 49 touchdowns.

Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban has been expecting Jones on campus for quite some time. However, everyone is presumably going to be a little disappointed with this injury.

Luckily, Jones did not throw any punches. Had he done so, he may have had his scholarship stripped.

Jones also has scholarship offers on the table from the likes of Auburn, Clemson, Florida and Georgia, among others.

However, broken jaw or not, here’s hoping the young man enjoys his time in the spotlight on National Signing Day.
