San Francisco linebacker Aldon Smith dropped Washington’s Robert Griffin III without even tackling the Redskins quarterback. On the tail-end of a rush to the passer, Smith kicked RGIII square in the groin.
It seems like every year the NFL instills another rule to protect the quarterback. With all the focus on hits above the shoulders, tackles around the knees and contact after the throw, this play got past referees.
At the end of the play Smith looks to help RGIII off the ground, but after a knee-shot like that the quarterback needed to collect himself.
