The actions described here took place months ago, before the 2012 football season even kicked off. However, this letter was only sent to the editor of the Arizona Republic recently and published on Thursday. Saturday Blitz first brought it to our attention.

That Arizona State fan eventually passed away, but the mere 90 minutes Graham spent with him will surely live on. The Sun Devils’ coach had been railed following an abrupt departure from Pitt after only one year to take on the Arizona State job.
In that time, he has halved the team’s penalty rate (from eight flags to 4.23 per game) and subsequent penalty yards (nearly 80 to under 35 per game). However, even those stats, indicative of a well-disciplined, well-led program, failed to keep the detractors at bay.
This may not do so either — but it doesn’t hurt. At the very least, it is a refreshing piece in a college coaching world far too crowded with the likes of Bobby Petrinos and Lane Kiffins.
