Report: Auburn golf coach Danielle Downey tragically killed in car crash

Tragedy struck the Auburn Tigers on Thursday night, the same evening that the university presented its Iron Bowl Trophy. According to AL.com, Auburn University Golf’s director of operations, Danielle Downey, was killed in a car crash. She was just 33 years old.

The accident was a single-vehicle crash. Downey reportedly lost control of her vehicle and was ejected as the car rolled. She was rushed to East Alabama Medical Center by ambulance, where she was pronounced dead on arrival due to head trauma and blunt force injuries.

The accident is still being investigated as of writing.
