The ever important “Who’s officiating the national championship game?” question has been answered. National officiating coordinator Rogers Redding informed AL.com that the big game will be officiated by Big Ten referees.
Auburn and FSU, as well as the rest of the nation, will learn the exact officials on the day of the game.
Just as the BCS title game is on a rotation, so are the officials in charge of refereeing the game. The 2013 BCS Championship Game was called by the Pac-12, while the 2012 title game was officiated by the Big Ten.
Officiating crews from the conferences represented in the game are not allowed to call the matchup. For that reason, it has been eight years since SEC officials have gotten to oversee the sport’s biggest stage.
