What a great week of college football. Bedlam was another classic, the SEC Championship Game was an offensive coordinator’s dream, and Ohio State succumbed to a more physical Michigan State team. Lost in the fray is Northern Illinois, who also fell from the ranks of the unbeaten.
With all the upsets and intermingling between top-10 teams, this week’s projections were pretty difficult. Florida State and Auburn lock up the top two spots, and from there things get murky.
Stanford comes in at No. 4 over two one-loss Big Ten schools. They dominated ASU to win the Pac-12, and three teams ahead of them lost. Also, while they may have two losses, voters give more respect to the Pac-12 than Big Ten. Luckily for Michigan State, they can prove voters wrong by winning the Rose Bowl.
After playing so competitively in defeat, Missouri falls to No. 8, just behind the Big 12 champs, Baylor.
The biggest loser on the week is Oklahoma State. They were all-or-nothing going into Bedlam, and came up just a little short. The Cowboys tumble out of the top-10, in favor of schools from perceived stronger conferences.
